DECHAMBEAU,
Robert Maynard January 30, 1951 April 5, 2010 With much sorrow we announce the
passing of Bob on Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home in Victoria, BC. Beloved
husband and friend of Heather MacDonald.
Survived
by his wife Heather, daughter Bree, sisters Sharon and Robin and brother Ronald.
Bob served his country with bravery as a fire fighter in the Canadian Navy from
1968 to 1992. He served aboard the HMCS Huron from 1974 to 1976 and the HMCS
Saguenay between 1985 and 1987. He also taught fire fighting at the Canadian
School of Instruction. After his retirement, Bob dedicated himself with
enthusiasm to the Vancouver Island Compassion Society, gardening, diving, and
travelling. Inconceivable that this force of nature died so young.
Unconscionable that his heart, so big, could stop beating." Friends are invited
to a come-and-go open house to celebrate Bob's life at 956 Westing Road in
Victoria on April 16 between 5 pm and 7 pm. A social will also be held at the
Royal Canadian Legion at 411 Gorge Road East on May 7 starting at 7 pm.
Donations may be made to Victoria Hospice, the Canadian Poppy Fund or the
Vancouver Island Compassion Society. 584923 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist on 4/10/2010
