Joe enlisted with the RCAF
on January 7, 1942 at No 2
Manning Depot Brandon, MB
at age of 23. He served overseas, while there Joe
worked on the ground crew
putting out fires and helping
clear the rubble from airfields
after bombing. This often took him close to the fighting. Joe completed the full
period of qualifying service for the 1939 - 1945 Star on 26 December 1946. He
received his discharge in 1945. Joe married Eva Champagne in 1956. They had one
daughter Linda. Joe's last residence was in Abbotsford, British Columbia where
he passed away at the age of 59 in march 1978.
